These days, hospitality and wellness go hand-in-hand, with brands around the world launching new initiatives to incorporate health into the guest experience.
In January, Hyatt Hotels acquired the Miraval Group, which focuses on wellness resort destinations and spas, adding several health-conscious properties into its portfolio. “Hyatt made a very smart move at a time when the hospitality industry has been largely distracted by the mergers of Marriott and Starwood and AccorHotels and FRHI over the last year,” Mia Kyricos, president and CEO of Kyricos & Associates, an advisor to hospitality and wellness brands, said about the deal.

TSA Considers 3D Scanners At Checkpoints
The TSA found a record number of firearms at airport screening checkpoints in a single day last Thursday, discovering 21 firearms in carry-on bags nationwide. That broke the previous record of 18 set in 2014. The news comes as the TSA expects to screen the highest number of travelers in a decade during the spring break travel period.
Around 62 million people are expected to go through airport security this month alone. To help speed things up, the TSA is considering new scanners for carry-on bags that produce 3-D images, similar to CT scans.

Hilton Now Offers Digital Room Keys at 1,000 Properties
Eighteen months after introducing digital room keys,Hilton Worldwide now offers at 1,000 properties worldwide, it announced today. Introduced in August 2015,Hilton's Digital Key technology allows members of Hilton's Hilton Honors loyalty program to use their smartphone as a room key.Here's how it works: Beginning the day before arrival,Hilton Honors members who booked directly with Hilton may select their desired room on their mobile device using digital check-in.
